Story

Jim Crawford, a retired big city attorney, has just lost his wife to cancer. His son, also an attorney in Jim’s old Law Firm, and his two children, are forced to leave right after the funeral to return to his law practice, leaving Jim utterly alone in the rural home his wife so dearly loved.

While still lost in the depths of despair, Jim is confronted by what he thinks is an apparition brought on by his grief, the Archangel, Raphael. But this is no chance encounter; Raphael tells Jim he has been sent specifically to help him become the man his wife always knew him to be, bring closure to his son’s family, and save their home town from a destructive developer. This, Raphael tells him, is something he is there to help him do.

Skeptical of Raphael’s very existence, and still tormented by his own grief, Raphael inexplicably points him in the direction of a wolf den, where Jim discovers “Sierra,” a she-wolf that his wife had been feeding and come to love almost as a pet, is dead. Jim is suddenly faced with having to care for her offspring … four new wolf pups that will certainly die if he doesn’t help. In spite of his own misery he accepts the task.

Jim knows nothing about wolves, let alone wolf cubs, but with Raphael’s urging he learns to care for them, and in the process works through his own problems. With help from some of the people in town, including one of his wife’s best friends, (Maggie) Jim brings the wolves from the edge of extinction to a healthy pack which roams the forest near his home…

Meanwhile the interaction with the townspeople has brought him into contact with an unscrupulous developer, (Beddows) who is trying to bulldoze the whole town and replace it with a glitzy resort. Rapahel reminds him that his legal skills could help the town and reluctantly Jim goes back to being a lawyer. But Beddows deviously tries to hire Jim’s old law firm and pit father against son. Instead he brings father and son together to uncover his last desperate attempt to take over the entire town.

Jim’s assumes the wolves are gone for good. But a scheme by Beddows to get Jim out of the way by putting his wolves in danger, has unexpected consequences. While searching for the wolves Jim is attacked by Grizzly bear. Suddenly the wolves burst out of the forest and attack the bear. Jim realizes they have always been there…watching out for him. His kindness and gift of life to them has been repaid and he has four very loyal “friends for life.”

A bruised but determined Jim is joined by his son and together they reveal Beddows fraudulent attempts to steal the property of the townspeople. . Raphael can now leave…Jim and his family are reunited, the town is saved, Jim has truly become the man his wife had always known him to be, and the wolves are a constant reminder that the best things in life happen when you give yourself to helping others.
